Sleevr Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026 · Applies to the Sleevr app for Android and iPhone and the website at getsleevr.com
Who we are
Sleevr is made by Michael Hester (developer name "bottledhate"). Questions or requests: sleevrcontact@gmail.com. See also the terms of use.
What Sleevr stores on your device
Sleevr keeps what you put into it on your phone (or, on the website, in your browser):
- Daily check-ins, pain ratings and mood ratings
- Journal entries, voice notes and recorded conversations (text and audio)
- Calendar appointments and events
- Photos, scanned documents, videos and files you add to the Vault
- People and notes you add, and your settings
- Work hours, if you use them: your jobs (employer, hourly rate, address, job site and regular schedule), each shift's times and breaks, days not worked, what your paychecks paid, photos of pay stubs you scan, and where you clocked in and out if you turn that on
- When each entry was really written, and the earlier wording or rating when you change one (so a record shows honestly what changed and when)
- Which agreements you accepted (the version and the time), and when Claim hold was turned on and off
On Android this database is encrypted with a key held in the phone's secure keystore. Nothing leaves your device unless you use one of the features below.
Permissions and when they're used
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Speaking check-ins, voice notes and recording conversations, only while you're recording. Speech is turned into text by your device's speech recognition service (on most Android phones, provided by Google). |
| Camera | Taking photos and scanning documents when you choose to. |
| Photos, videos and files | Adding items you pick to the Vault, and saving copies back to your device when you ask. |
| Contacts | Showing your phone's contacts in the Phone section so you can call, text or add them. Contacts are only copied into Sleevr if you add one to People. |
| Notifications and alarms | Your morning check-in reminder, appointment reminders, and work hours reminders (when overtime starts, logging your hours, and reminders you ask the assistant for), scheduled on your device. |
| Location (optional) | Resources: only if you tap “Use my location”, your phone works out which state or country you're in so Sleevr can show its resources. Only that is saved, on your device. Work hours: only if you turn on “Use my location” in Work hours settings, Sleevr notes where you are (an address and coordinates) at the moment you clock in or out, and keeps it with that shift on your device (and in your encrypted sync and backups, if you use them). If you also turn on “Notice where I work”, Sleevr notes where you are when you open the app (at most every half hour) so it can ask whether a place you're at on workdays is a job. These notes stay on your device only: they aren't synced or backed up, they're deleted after 35 days, and turning the setting off deletes them all. Sleevr never tracks your location in the background. |
Google sign-in and Google services
Signing in with Google is optional on the phone and required on the website. When you connect Google, Sleevr receives your name, email address and profile picture, and only the access you choose:
- Google Calendar — to keep your appointments in sync with your calendar.
- Other Google calendars — to list your other calendars (family, work, shared) so you can show or hide their events in Sleevr. Their events are shown, never changed.
- Google Drive — to back up your data to a "Sleevr Backup" folder in your Drive. Sleevr can only see files it created. These backups are not encrypted by Sleevr, so anyone who can open that Drive account, or anyone you share the folder with, can read them.
- Gmail — to send an email you've written in the app (send only; Sleevr can't read your email).
- Google Contacts — to bring contacts into People (read only).
This information is used only to provide these features to you. It isn't sold, used for advertising, or shared with anyone else, and no person reads it.
Sleevr's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Sign in with Apple (iPhone, optional)
On iPhone you can sign in to chat, the assistant and account deletion with your Apple ID instead of Google. Sleevr only asks Apple for your name; Apple gives Sleevr an identifier for your account, which is kept in Google Firebase Authentication. When you delete your account, Sleevr asks Apple to end its Sign in with Apple link to your Apple ID. You can also stop using it at any time in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple.
Sync between your phone and the website (optional)
If you turn on sync, a copy of your data is stored in Google Firebase (United States) so your phone and getsleevr.com stay the same. Everything is end-to-end encrypted on your device with a key made from your sync passphrase. The cloud copy only shows random identifiers, when things changed, and which kind of device made the change. We can't read it, can't reset your passphrase, and can't recover the cloud copy if the passphrase is lost. Your devices keep their own copies.
Chat (optional)
If you use chat, your display name, username, profile photo, messages and shared photos are stored in Google Firebase so other people in the conversation can see them. Chat is not end-to-end encrypted. The General lobby is visible to everyone signed in to Sleevr. You can block and report people; reports are sent to us so we can act on them.
Chat notifications. To tell you about new messages, Sleevr keeps a short note in your account of which room has new messages, who wrote them and when (never the message itself), and shows it on your Today screen until you open the room. Your phone's notification token is kept with your account so notifications can be sent through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or Apple Push Notification service (iPhone). Notifications only say who wrote and where, unless you turn on “Show message text” in Settings. You can turn chat notifications off in Settings at any time.
AI assistant (optional)
When you use the assistant, your messages to it, and the information it looks up in your data to answer (for example recent check-ins, journal entries, appointments, notes or people), are sent through our server to Anthropic, PBC, which provides the AI model, to generate a reply. Anthropic doesn't use this data to train its models. We keep only a count of how many assistant requests you make each day, to limit costs. Emails and texts the assistant drafts are only sent if you tap Send.
If Sleevr has noticed regular work hours, or a place you're at on workdays, the assistant is told about it once at the start of a conversation (by street address, never coordinates) so it can ask whether to track it.
Pay stubs. When you scan a pay stub in Work hours, the photo is sent the same way to Anthropic to read the employer, pay period, hours and pay. Nothing is saved from it until you check the details and tap Save; the photo is then kept in your Vault on your device. We don't keep the photo or what was read on our server.
Agreements you accept
Before Sleevr stores anything, and before each feature above is turned on, the app asks you to agree to how it works. Each acceptance (which agreement, its version, and the time) is kept on your device and, when you're signed in, with your account in Google Firebase, so there's a record of what you agreed to. They're deleted with your account.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising or tracking IDs.
- No selling or renting of your data.
- No third-party analytics.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account in the app or at getsleevr.com/delete-account (Settings → Delete my account). Your account is deleted 7 days later unless you sign back in and keep it. Deletion removes your sign-in, chat profile, username, messages and photos, friends list, your encrypted cloud copy, and your assistant usage count. Data on your own devices stays unless you choose to erase it, and backups in your own Google Drive stay in your Drive. You can also email us to ask for deletion.
Uninstalling the app removes the data stored on that phone.
Claim hold. If you turn on Claim hold in Settings (for when you have a claim or dispute), nothing in Sleevr can be deleted or shredded on that device, deletions made on the website aren't applied to it, and your account can't be deleted until you turn it off.
Security
Data is encrypted on Android devices and, with sync, end-to-end before upload. Connections use HTTPS. Access to cloud data is limited by security rules to your own signed-in account.
Health information
Sleevr helps you keep your own records. It doesn't give medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always talk to a qualified health professional about your health.
Sleevr is not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate: it's a tool you use for yourself, not a service for doctors, clinics or insurers. If you have a workers' comp claim or other dispute, what you record or export may be requested by the other side. Keeping something in Sleevr doesn't make it legally private.
Children
Sleevr is for adults 18 and older. It isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app for important changes.
